How do I put my Hitron cable modem into bridge mode?

Bridge mode turns off your Hitron cable modem's WiFi and routing so your own router can take over. These steps are written for the Hitron CODA 5610 — the CODA 4680 and CODA 4589 use the same menus, so the steps apply to those models too.

Before you start

• Bridging disables the modem's WiFi — make sure your own router is ready to set up.
• You'll need a computer or phone connected to the modem (ethernet is most reliable for this).

Steps

1. Disconnect the coaxial cable from the modem.
2. Open a browser and go to http://192.168.0.1. Log in — the username is cusadmin and the password is the WiFi key printed on the sticker on the modem (unless you've changed it).
3. On the top menu, select Basic.
4. Within Basic Settings, select the Gateway Function tab.
5. Set Residential Gateway Function to Disabled and confirm when prompted.
6. Click Save Changes. The modem will reboot.
7. Disconnect all devices from the modem's ethernet ports, then connect your own router's WAN/Internet port into LAN port #1 (the one closest to the reset button).
8. Reconnect the coaxial cable.
9. Set up your WiFi network in your own router.

To undo bridge mode

Repeat the steps and set Residential Gateway Function back to Enabled — or contact support and we'll help.
