# Is installation free? Will a technician come to my home?

**Most Worldline installations are free self-installs** — no technician visit needed.

## How self-install works

Wherever possible, we activate your service remotely using the wiring already in your home. On your scheduled activation date, you simply plug in the modem we've shipped you, and you're online. There's no charge for self-installation.

A tip for activation day: power on your equipment about an hour **after** your scheduled activation window ends (for example, if your window was 8–11 am, plug in around noon). Full steps are in [I have received my Worldline equipment. Now what?](https://help.worldline.ca/en/article/i-have-received-my-worldline-equipment-now-what-19vq6nf/).

## When a technician is needed

If your service can't be activated remotely — for example, if new wiring work is required at your address — we'll dispatch a technician to complete the installation. The technician will test and confirm your connection is working before leaving. We'll let you know in advance if your order needs a technician visit.

## Do I need to be home?

For a self-install, no — you just need your equipment plugged in at the right time. For a technician visit, someone (18 or over) should be home to provide access.
